2026 A Level Results

The Loughborough Grammar School class of 2026 look ahead to bright futures after receiving excellent A Level results, including 71% A*-B grades, with 37 students achieving exclusively A or A* grades, and an impressive 12 receiving three or more A* grades. Over 120 A*/As were also achieved in STEM subjects and 100% A*-B in subjects including Art, Classical Civilisation, Greek, Latin, Spanish, German and Music.

Mr James Neville, Head of Loughborough Grammar School, said: “I am delighted to see our students fulfil their ambitions with excellent results as they move on to an exciting range of destinations in the UK and internationally. This year group has made an outstanding contribution to the life of Loughborough Grammar – on the sports field, in concert, on stage, through the Combined Cadet Force, in charitable endeavours and in service to the community.  

“Their talent, energy and generosity have enriched our school immeasurably, leaving a lasting legacy. We are immensely proud of them and look forward to seeing the positive contribution they will make in the wider world.” 

“I’m looking forward to meeting loads of people in Cambridge and studying Economics. In Year 13 I really enjoyed spending time with a few of my close friends, especially through Sixth Form – we met at the start of Year 12 and we’ve become such good friends. Support from my subject teachers and the help I received through the UCAS process were really useful.”

Loughborough Grammar is celebrating an exceptionally high number of offers at Oxford and Cambridge universities this year.    

Year 13 student, Joseph, said: “I got 3 A*s in German, Latin and Chemistry and I’m off to the University of Oxford to study Psychology and Linguistics. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, and I think the academic side will be brilliant – I’ve found subjects that I’ve got a real passion for. 

“Whilst studying in Sixth Form at Loughborough Grammar School, having a smaller range of subjects meant that I’ve been able to delve deeper into each one. The greater independence has also been really nice for me; I’ve felt a lot more freedom to approach my studies in a way that suits me and I think that really helped me in terms of my achievements.” 

Head Boy, James, will study Mathematics at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge with a prestigious choral scholarship in the chapel choir.

Behind headline statistics are so many individual stories of overcoming challenges and personal triumphs. Students have accepted offers to study at a broad range of top institutions, including Imperial College London, King’s College London, London School of Economics and University College London, as well as the universities of Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Hong Kong, Lancaster, Loughborough, Manchester, Nottingham, Toronto, Warwick and York. 

Others will embark on competitive degree apprenticeships with international employers, specialist conservatoire and performing-arts routes, such as the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and prestigious pilot training, including with the Royal Air Force. 

Year 13 student, Toby, said: “I’m going to Newcastle University to do a degree apprenticeship with PWC. It’s three years of study with one year of going to the offices and working as an apprentice. I’ll do one term from my second to my fourth year working at PWC which I’m really looking forward to.”

GCSE Results

We’re incredibly proud to see this year’s cohort of GCSE pupils achieve an outstanding set of exam results as 43% of all grades awarded were at Grade 9-8, increasing from 39% in 2025.  

27 pupils achieved an outstanding set of results comprising exclusively of Grades 7, 8 and 9. 

Following excellent A Level results last week, strong results were once again seen across the board, with standout grades 9-7 in Chemistry, Design Technology, Fine Art, German, Greek, History, Latin, Mathematics and Physics.

Mr James Neville, Head of Loughborough Grammar School, said: “We are pleased to celebrate outstanding GCSE results this year, which are testament to the commitment and hard work of our pupils, supported by their dedicated teachers. These results follow an exceptionally successful year for this cohort, who have contributed to all aspects of the rich and varied co-curricular programme so central to life at Loughborough Grammar School. 

“While these results mark an important milestone, they are just the beginning of the next stage of our pupils’ education. We look forward to seeing them build on these achievements as they embark on their exciting Sixth Form journey ahead.” 

Reflecting on the experience of receiving his results, Year 11 pupil, Kyle, said: “I was quite relieved after waiting for so long. [Revising for exams] was hard, it definitely wasn’t easy, but if I just kept on thinking about the final goal, I pushed through in the end.” 

Many pupils are now set to proceed with their studies in our dedicated Sixth Form, where they will continue to receive high-quality teaching from our team of subject specialists, strong pastoral care and a wealth of exciting opportunities to broaden their horizons both inside and outside of the classroom. 

Year 11 pupil, Cyrus, who is going on to study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths at A Level, said: “I was nervous at first, but when you open them, there’s a relief that falls over you, and I was happy at the end. [Revising for exams] wasn’t fun but you have to do it and it really helped a lot. I would do the same again.”
