🏆From 3,000 teams to #1 in the UK - Artin and Shaan have done it.

We’re incredibly proud of Year 10 pupils Artin and Shaan, who have taken 1st place in the Perse Coding Team Challenge (Selective Schools & Clubs category)! 🎉

Competing against around 3,000 teams nationwide, and progressing through to a final pool of just 730, the pair achieved a perfect score of 120 points in round two — securing victory on a tie-break by submitting the fewest solutions. An exceptional and rare accomplishment 👏

The competition tests advanced algorithmic thinking, problem-solving, and Python programming, with increasingly complex challenges designed to push teamwork and logical precision to the limit.

💬 “We were really pleased to win… it felt rewarding to come out on top.” – Artin
💬 “Support from the computing department was invaluable… but a lot comes from practising independently.” – Shaan

Their success reflects not only their dedication and resilience, but also the strength of their classroom learning and ability to apply skills in challenging, unfamiliar contexts.

A fantastic achievement in a highly competitive national event — and an inspiration to others to get involved in coding! 💻✨

Teeing off the golf season ⛳

William recently took part in the Faldo Series Masters at Brockett Hall. Out of the 240 entrants, William progressed through the three-day competition to finish 14th overall in the 16s and under category - a fantastic achievement.

William represented @longcliffegolf at this event at which he is Junior Captain. Alongside pupils from Year 5 in @lborofairfield through to Year 13 at our two senior schools, William benefits from the club's recent partnership with us.

The partnership creates an exceptional opportunity for pupils across the Foundation to develop their skills in one of the region’s premier golfing environments and offers structured coaching, as well as the opportunity for senior pupils to select golf as part of the optional games programme.

Following a brilliant start to the season, we can't wait to watch both William and the partnership flourish.

Towards the end of the term, our community has been busy collecting food bank donations ahead of the Easter break.

Lots of food, toiletries and Easter eggs have been donated to John Storer House, Junction Church and The Friary Drop-in. With the need for food banks and donation centres rising in the UK, services such as these are essential in local communities. Huge thanks go to all our staff and pupils for their contributions.

We had some special visitors to our Beast Club from Kindergarten @lborofairfield this term.

Home to an exciting collection of animals, including stick insects, cockroaches, a ball python, geckos, tree frogs and a bearded dragon, the club aims to spark curiosity and inspire a love of Biology. Each animal has its own name, character and personality, giving pupils a wonderful chance to connect with living creatures in a purposeful way.

Open to boys from Year 6 through to Year 13, our older students play a key role in leading sessions, mentoring younger members and developing valuable leadership and organisational skills.

All pupils get the opportunity to take responsibility each week for feeding, cleaning and caring for the animals. This engagement is essential; not only does it help build independence and teamwork, but it also enables us to maintain the high standard of care required for our animals throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of the commitment shown by our pupils and grateful for their role in helping our department thrive.
