On Sunday, 14 of our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) cadets took part in the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire & Rutland (LNR) Army Cadet Force Cadet Sunday event, hosted here at Loughborough Grammar School.

Held for the first time in 30 years, the event celebrated the achievements and dedication of cadets and adult volunteers across the region and is set to become an annual tradition.

Cadets and staff showcased a wide range of skills, leadership, and teamwork through demonstrations including fieldcraft, first aid, communications, expeditions, foot drill, and more.

Reflecting on the day, Contingent Commander Lt Col Ben Ward said:
"It was a real privilege to be working alongside our ACF counterparts at this wonderful event. The development of young people's confidence, resilience, and aspirations was truly palpable."

A fantastic day celebrating achievement, service, and the next generation of leaders. 👏

Highlight of the term so far?! 🎖️

The CCF Annual Review is one of the biggest events in our school calendar and a proud showcase of cadet discipline, leadership and skill. From precision parades and drills to exciting field activities, the event celebrated the commitment and resilience of pupils across the Navy, Army and RAF sections.

Guests also enjoyed impressive performances from the Corps of Drums, alongside formal inspections by military officials, making the occasion both memorable and inspiring.

We were especially honoured to welcome Colonel Simon “Reggie” Turner of the Royal Marines, and proud Loughborough Grammar School alumnus, as our special guest for the Review. His visit highlighted the lifelong leadership and character-building opportunities the CCF provides.

Encouraging innovation💡

From the applications of Physics to the involvement of Maths and the creativity of Art, Design and Technology offers our pupils something unique – the chance to lead their own learning and develop a wealth of skills that equip them for many future avenues. This alone encourages innovation amongst our pupils, preparing them to succeed in all the possible pathways stemming from a rich and diverse education in the subject.

Pupils build on not only STEM skills, but are also encouraged to let their creativity run wild; whether its working on our eco-friendly car, to constructing clocks and air hockey tables, there is a space for everyone. To read more about our D&T offer, click the link in our story!
