Clinical Applications Pathway

Specialist Support for Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and Healthcare Degrees

At Loughborough Grammar School, we offer a comprehensive and dynamically structured programme to prepare students for the rigours of applying for clinical and healthcare-related degrees, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary science and allied health professions.

Through our dedicated clinical careers pathway, students benefit from personalised mentoring, academic enrichment and professional development from Year 11 through to Year 13. This integrated healthcare degree preparation programme equips students with the knowledge, experience and confidence required for successful applications and future study in healthcare.

Year 11

Year 11: Laying the Foundations for Clinical Careers

In year 11, pupils are supported to:

  • Research potential clinical and healthcare career pathways
  • Understand course and subject requirements for medicine, dentistry and veterinary degrees
  • Explore the academic and personal qualities required for success
  • Meet with subject specialists and the Clinical Applications Co-ordinator

This early healthcare careers guidance enables students to choose appropriate A Levels and begin building a strong profile for competitive university applications.

  • Application planning
  • UCAS guidance
  • Personal statement development

  • Admissions test strategies

This ensures consistent support throughout the application cycle and that by the start of Year 13, our students have developed a strong portfolio of experience and reflection to support their applications.
