What a fantastic morning at this year`s LGS Sports Day! 🏃🏅

From outstanding performances on the track and in the field to incredible House spirit and camaraderie, it was a brilliant celebration of sport and teamwork.

A special congratulations to our record-breakers, including the Year 10 boys` 800m champion, who set a new School record for the first time since 1982. An extraordinary achievement!

🏆 National Champions – Three Years Running!

A huge congratulations to our Combined Cadet Force (CCF), who have won the Royal Air Squadron Trophy (RAST) for an incredible third consecutive year!

Fourteen RAF cadets from Loughborough Grammar School and Loughborough High School travelled to RAF Wittering to compete against the best cadet teams in the country. Despite having only a few days to prepare together following their GCSE and A Level exams, they delivered an outstanding performance across a series of demanding challenges including drill, space, cyber, first aid and leadership.

These exceptional results secured the overall title of National Champions once again.

Section Commander Flt Lt Jo Smith said: "Three RAST wins in a row – I`m speechless! I am so proud of the entire team for their commitment, determination and talent, especially while balancing the demands of GCSE and A Level exams."

Congratulations to every cadet and member of staff involved. This remarkable achievement is a testament to their hard work, resilience, teamwork and dedication, and further cements the schools` CCF reputation as one of the country`s leading RAF cadet contingents.

🎮 What happens when you combine Minecraft, Virtual Reality, archaeology and Roman history 🏛️?

You create the first-ever digital reconstruction of a district of Roman Leicester.

This month, Loughborough Grammar School welcomed Year 4 and 5 pupils from Fairfield and other local schools to take part in a Classics competition: "Rebuilding Ratae", challenging them to recreate buildings from ancient Roman Leicester using Minecraft and real archaeological evidence.

Working from excavation data provided by archaeologist Tim Higgins (ULAS), pupils brought the lost city of Ratae Corieltauvorum back to life. Their individual creations were combined into a single digital world, creating an unprecedented reconstruction of the site. Led by Classics teacher Philip Harper, the project showcases how subjects like Classics can be brought to life through creativity, technology, and hands-on learning.

By turning pupils from learners into builders, designers and explorers, Rebuilding Ratae demonstrates that the ancient world still has the power to inspire future generations.

🏁 We`ve always known our pupils like a challenge. This week they took that challenge to the Scalextric4Schools National Finals.

Our Design & Technology pupils headed to the national finals after months of designing, testing, tweaking and refining their race cars and pit displays.

After presenting their work to the judges, both teams went on to compete against schools from across the country, with both securing a place in the final 12. Herons Motorsport put their foot down and claimed 3rd place overall in the Fastest Lap event. To top it off, the team also received the Boxford Engineering Award in recognition of their outstanding engineering work.

A huge congratulations to all pupils involved. The awards, prizes and bragging rights are thoroughly deserved.

If your son is looking for a Sixth Form where academic excellence goes hand in hand with ambition, determination and a healthy competitive streak, Loughborough Grammar School could be the perfect fit.
