Our A Level Art students enjoyed a fascinating talk on architecture by David Hemsley, Director of Design Active Ltd and Design Consultant to the Sport and Leisure industry. David presented a seminar on the career process, the industry, the day-to-day life of an architect, the project and building process, along with past and current projects across the country. Projects discussed included, working with Birmingham City Council and Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council on the Alexander Stadium Redevelopment and the new Aquatic Centre development which formed two of the venues for the Commonwealth Games in 2022. It was fantastic for our students to see where Art could lead them and hear from an industry professional.

Did you know? Our Sixth Form students choose from a range of 27 A Level subjects, with many being taught alongside @lborohigh. Through the two years in Sixth Form, LGS students can focus on the subjects they love. Academic study is underpinned by an individually-tailored Professional Development Programme (PDP) to enhance University applications and develop the skills and experiences that employers seek, helping our boys to stand out from the crowd.

At LGS, we see Year 6 as a stepping stone to success as boys have the opportunity to build familiarity and foundations at the school before Year 7. Year 6 boys are taught by specialists in Science, Music, Computing and Art, with access to all the Senior School facilities.

Year 6 pupils are nurtured as a distinct cohort but with extensive opportunity to mix with Year 7s, get used to navigating the campus, make lasting friendships and connections, and soon feel very much part of our mutually supportive community.
