Loughborough Grammar School’s Director of Music Voted President-Elect of the Music Teachers Association

We are delighted to share that Loughborough Grammar School’s Director of Music, Nicky Bouckley, has recently been selected to become the Music Teachers Association’s (MTA) President-Elect. As President-Elect, and then subsequently as President in two years’ time, Nicky will help shape the organisation’s future as the UK’s Association for Music Teachers.

As a member of the MTA since 2010, and a member of the committee for the last two years, Nicky’s involvement with the Association is deep-rooted; in 2023, the Loughborough Schools Foundation’s Music School hosted the MTA’s annual conference, bringing over 200 music professionals into Loughborough.

An ever-growing Association, the MTA provides training, INSET and networking opportunities for music teachers in the UK. Through an engaging programme of webinars, podcasts, e-bulletins and more, the MTA brings music teachers together to share ideas, connect and work together in partnership. The Association also plays an active role in shaping music education across the country, working at a national level to influence this.

Speaking about the election, Nicky said: “As President, I’ll be responsible for setting the agenda for the work of the Association and directing the nature of the INSET and training available to members. Until then, as President-Elect, I will be working with the President to grow the Association and build on the outstanding work already going on. I’m excited and honoured to be part of the incredible journey of this Association, and to be able to shape the direction for the future.”
