Recognising Outstanding Pupil Achievement in The Book of Excellence

Academic excellence and co-curricular enrichment sit at the heart of our School’s values and our newly introduced ‘Book of Excellence’ aims to capture and celebrate our pupils’ achievements in these fields and beyond.

The book is dedicated to preserving a permanent record of pupil excellence and our goal is to reward both talent and effort while also highlighting role models who contribute positively to our School community.

In its first year, the Book of Excellence has provided a platform for us to recognise co-curricular endeavour, free learning, the breaking of School records, elite musical performances and, most recently, a commitment to championing neurodiversity. Two Year 13 pupils have recently been recognised for their outstanding contributions.

Year 13 pupil, Daniel, gave an inspiring talk in our whole School assembly on the topic of neurodiversity: “My talk in assembly was for Neurodiversity Celebration Week and I aimed to share what autism was, why it is important to talk about and my personal experiences. I believe that raising awareness for this disability and its traits is very important so that more people in society can learn how to accommodate autistic people. When I was invited to sign the Book of Excellence, I was very honoured and thankful for this award.”

Mr James Neville commented that Daniel’s “presentation exemplifies excellence in championing and celebrating neurodiversity at Loughborough Grammar School, and we are incredibly proud of all that Daniel has accomplished.”

Fellow Year 13 pupil, Noah received recognition for his outstanding performance at Loughborough Schools Foundation’s Spring Concert. Noah said “I played the 1st movement of Lalo’s Cello Concerto with the LSF Symphony Orchestra and enjoyed the experience of having the opportunity to play on such an iconic stage alongside some of my best friends. I was very surprised but also very grateful that the School had recognised all the time and effort I’d put into the concert and the preparation that went into it.”

After witnessing the concert, Mr Neville said “Noah’s performance reflects his outstanding contribution to music at Loughborough Grammar School, and we are delighted to recognise Noah in the Book of Excellence for his dedication and hard work.”

We hope that those who sign the book will one day return as proud Loughburians, reflecting on their entries with a sense of pride, knowing that our School will always value their spirit and legacy.
