Sports Day Showcase of Athletic Talent

Over the weekend, we observed a fantastic morning of sport, camaraderie and achievement at our annual Sports Day. On a morning of glorious sunshine, the event brought together pupils, staff and parents, all eager to witness a celebration of athletic talent and House spirit.

Across the track and field events, pupils demonstrated the results of their hard work and training through the Summer term. Two standout moments of the day came in the form of new School records set by our talented Year 8 boys. Ibthiha set a new High Jump record whilst William excelled in the 300m race, setting a new record of 46.56 seconds.

In each Year group, the coveted Victor Ludorum Trophy was awarded to the top-performing athlete—the boy who earned the most points for his house through his participation and success across events. These trophies recognise not only talent but consistency, effort, and commitment.

The Long Jump event also generated some fantastic results as Senior Long Jump winner, Alex, set a distance of 4.58 metres and Intermediate Long Jump winner, James, jumped an incredible 5.06 metres.

When it came to the final standings, there were only 36 points between the Houses in first and fourth place. Pulteney House claimed the 2025 Sports Day champions title with a total of 544 points. In a special celebration assembly this week, winners of the Victor Ludorum Trophies and event winners were presented with their trophies.

As a fantastic display of House spirit, Sports Day offers boys across Year groups the chance to mix with each other, build bonds and develop their teamwork skills. Overall, it was a fantastic morning sport which truly highlighted the enthusiasm and athletic potential of our pupils.
