Loughborough Grammar School’s U15A cricket team are celebrating a remarkable run of success after being crowned Leicestershire County Champions and securing a place in the national quarter-finals of the English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) Midlands T20 competition.
In the county final against Leicester Grammar School, Loughborough Grammar School delivered a sterling bowling performance, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Star of the innings, Tom, took an impressive 4 wickets for just 6 runs from 4 overs. Harry and Oscar contributed with sharp fielding and two crucial run outs to help bowl out the opposition for just 84 runs.
The boys kept their composure with valuable contributions from across the batting line-up. Oscar provided a steadying influence at the crease to see the team home and secure the County Cup title.
Fresh off this success, the team represented Leicestershire against Stamford, the Lincolnshire champions, in the English School Cricket Association (ESCA) Midlands T20 competition. A commanding batting performance set a total of 172. The bowling unit once again excelled, with Bobby delivering a standout spell of 4 overs, 2 maidens, 2 wickets for just 2 runs, as Stamford were dismissed for 72.
The School has enabled my progression with weekly sports training and matches which help me develop in my sports. My highlights have been winning the county cup in rugby, football and cricket. Cricket is my main sport, and I wish to keep developing my skills at School and hopefully play at a high level in the future.
