Putting their Mathematics skills to the test, 113 boys entered the UK Maths Trust (UKMT) Junior Mathematical Challenge earlier this term. The challenge is 60 minutes long and asks pupils to answer 25 multiple choice questions to encourage mathematical reasoning and logic.
Aimed at the most able mathematicians in Years 6, 7 and 8 across the country, an astounding 94 of our pupils were awarded certificates, 22 of which received Gold, and 16 boys also qualified for the next round of the competition.
Pupils across year groups received incredible scores; our Year 6 top performer received 84 marks out of a possible 135, our Year 7 top scorer received 117 and our highest overall scorer, from Year 8, received 129 marks, only 6 marks away from a 100% outcome.
These fantastic results show the academic focus of our pupils in a core subject which encourages our boys to develop the essential skills of detailed analysis and logical thought.
